Parent's Night

This night is dedicated to parents and guardians only. Parents will spend time in their children's classrooms getting to know each teacher and learning about the teacher's plans for the upcoming year.

Grandparent/Grandfriend's Day

Grandparents and Grandfriends are invited to HBT, during a school day, to visit their grandchildren in their classrooms. This is a great way for the grandkid(s) to show off their school and what they do all week long!

Book Fair
Fall Fair: September 19th - 23rd, 2016
Spring Fair: May 15th - 19th, 2017

The Scholastic Book Fair is open during school hours for a week, two times a school year as well as one evening event per book fair in conjunction with another school event. Typically, each classrooms have an opportunity to preview the books early in the week, bring home a wish list, and then visit the book fair to make purchases during the week. Parents will have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair during the school day. If parents would rather shop with their student(s), everyone is welcome to attend the Book Fair on the one evening during the week that the fair is open.
The Fall Book Fair sales earn Scholastic dollars that are used to provide new books in the classrooms for all students to share and enjoy. The Spring Book Fair is a Buy One/Get One free event. For every book purchased, you can get one of equal or lesser value, FREE!! There is also the ever popular Change War during the Spring Book Fair with an incentive prize to the classroom with the most change donated.
The best part of the Scholastic Book Fairs is that they provide our students with an opportunity to fall in love with reading by purchasing their own books to love.

This is a fun week that goes along with the Twister-A-Thon. During this week, the kids will have special themed school days (ie. PJ day, crazy hair day, spiritwear day, etc.). There will also be fun things for the students to do during lunch (ie. temporary tattoos, hula hoop contest, etc.). To ring in each day, music is played over the intercom to get the kids pumped up for the great day of school!

Twister-A-Thon

Our Fall Twister-A-Thon serves as the PTO's major fund raiser each year. Money raised during this event helps the PTO fund the many events and activities we plan during the school year, as well as provides teachers with funds for their classroom and supplements field trips.
Come join us up on Rocket Hill on this fun-filled afternoon and be ready to TWIST along with the kids!!
Big Guy/Little Guy Event

This event is a great way for the boys of HBT to have a special day with their special Big Guys in their lives. This could be a Dad, Older Brother, Grandfather or an older friend. This event is held at Howard B. Thomas in the fall and is free to HBT families. Families are encouraged to bring their blankets and pillows as they curl up to watch a kid-friendly movie in the gym. We offer popcorn and drinks for purchase.

Howard B. Thomas Grade School earns 10 cents for every Box Top turned in! We also get funds from the Labels for Education programs and a few other programs based on the products we purchase and use around the house. Not only can you help by clipping and saving these valuable commodities when you see them on your products to turn into the school, but you can also have fun helping to count the box tops at 3-4 “counting” get-togethers a year. Help our school earn money and equipment by saving Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education! Each teacher has a bin to collect these so send them to school with your child. Box tops and Labels are counted 3 times a year and your child's class can win a prize for having the most turned in!

Butter Braid hand-braided frozen pastries are made with 100% real butter and the finest natural ingredients. Available in Apple, Bavarian Crème (with chocolate icing), Cherry, Cinnamon, and Cream Cheese, they are easy to prepare. Simply set them out, let them rise until about double in size, bake for 20-30 minutes and enjoy!

We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Kids are only in grade school once, why not help them remember it with a yearbook! The yearbook is a culmination of pictures taken through out the year of students from Kindergarten to Fifth. It captures all the wonderful things that happen around HBT throughout the year whether it be evening events, fundraisers, classroom events, or just daily activities. The yearbook a wonderful collection of memories!
